First off, I want to say thank you to Ghost for his input on my various posts here...
Secondly, now that I have everything wired and soldered and connected, i'm afraid to actually power it up as a nearly complete assembly. Its not so much that I'm afraid of it not working, which is a distinct possibility, but with all the exposed circuitry I'm more afraid of killing myself.

here is what I think could possibly happen when I finally screw up the courage to fire this puppy up:
1. it will blow up in my face, cause a terrible fire and my neighborhood will be burned to the ground
2. it will create a rip in the time-space continuum, distorting reality as we know it and shoot the projectile all of 3 feet
3. the green NE lamps will glow brightly indicating something is happening, and nothing will happen
or 4. it will work as designed but it will make me want to take this inch and stretch into about a million miles and spend hundreds of dollars only to finally give up in frustration at not having created the greatest advanced in weaponry since the bow and arrow...

My bet is on 2.

Put on some goggles and fire away.

My bet is that it'll work fine but you will have poor initial results and that you'll have to experiment with different coil spacing and timing and projectile placement.

Uh oh, Troubleshooting time >.<

Don't worry, just take the proper safety precautions and you'll be fine =) Comparing your set up to Saz43's Link2 you're a lot safer than with his kilo joule bank set up like that >.> Main thing is never touch the capacitors and it's connections, whether charged or not.

And as for possibility number 4, thats why you start with small simple coil guns then work up. I've been working on an IC controlled charger board and I think I've spent almost a few hundred (practically all my pocket money) trying to get a board working, it still doesn't work :'(

With the capacitor banks, I think it would have been beneficial to connect them using a wider trace but it should work just fine.

Cheers
-Ken
