Here's my Ring Toss again. Some showed an interest in this last time so I'm posting more detialed information on it this time.

Source is 160J at 450VDC discharged by Relay

Needs improvement by either SCR or triggered gap.

>>>Well...I don't exactly know what's going on because the pictures didn't show up and I can't really edit it right now. I'll try again later<<<

>>>>>OKAY here are the pics. I left them like this because when I used the [img] feature I think the pics were too large for the rules to permit, so here are the links.

Nice setup hazmat! And good efficiency. Mine probably isnt nearly as efficient, but when I built mine I wasnt really looking for efficieny, I wanted power >>insert Tim Taylor grunt<< cheesey

Here is one of the more interesting disks I launched... my coil wasnt heavy enough guage wire and started to distort, until this launch when it completely mangled itself and the disk with about a 2-4 kJ charge in the caps.

Disk2 400

My setup was very minimum on components and tech... 1 big cap, two big bolts in a pastic vicegrip, one flat coil, a hard drive platter, and a large steel discharge rod with long handle! To charge the cap I just used a nst and bridge rect wich I disconnected before firing. Does sound like a good idea scaling it down to something more efficient and managable though...

Keep up the good work!

I would have made mine really powerful...but it has to be around kids as a demo, so you know, the 'wow' effect can't be too big.

I'll change it over to SCR or something because the relays weld too much.
