okay so i built three capascitor banks and i put diodes on each bank to allow all banks to be charged at the same time but disharged seperatly, but the problem is is that when i discharge one of the banks all three of them disharge at the same time...

EDIT: oops...my question is, is does anyone know why this is happening, i got the idea from a schematic on anothercoilgunsite.com

We could better help you if you post a diagram.

Either the diodes have gone closed circuit, or you built it differently to the diagram.

Are you testing with a real circuit? If you were just testing the general method with small caps and by shorting one bank the reverse recovery time of the diodes could play a role (not so much an issue in a real circuit since the discharge time >> reverse recovery).

Otherwise a simple mistake or the diodes having failed short (what's the max charging current?) is indeed the only explanation.

i figured out the problem....my diodes had fried so they were letting current flow both ways, i went out and bought new bigger diodes and it works awesome now ^_^
