After reading many of the threads about coilguns, railguns, and plasma arcs, I wondered if anything such as a plasma repulsion cannon would be feasible. The device would strike an arc between two electrodes with low-power high voltage, and then both the electrodes and a coil directly below the electrodes would be pulsed with high energy from a capacitor bank.
I know it's a vague and random idea, but please tell me what you think.
yes i think he means to ionise the air and then use a magnetic field to propel the plasma at high speed. Sounds like it could work to me, but i dont exactly know much in the field :)

Lourenz force - I recall even someone been building an alike device - a copper wire gets vapourized by a cap bank discharge and a hot DC arc appears and gets fired away by a strong magnetic force of a working coil that gets some caps discharge into it as well.

A railgun would of course work, but this sounds like a pancake coil underneath the plasma. In any case, What is the point of accelerating plasma unless its propeling a projectile? Unless it is very close targets.

Yes, as far as I know of alike experiments, the plasma formation obtained by that method could make it only a meter or so, with no noticable destructive power.
Fire off a load of thermite with a potato gun or ETG, now that's going to be a heavy kick! (I didn't say that - for the case anyone tries that out and blows it up ;) )
