Hi,
I'm making a boost converter similar to this one
Link2

Since I can't find any high current inductors of around that value, I've decided to buy myself a ferrite bar and some 22guage wire so I can make one myself. My question is, how many turns will I need for approximately 130mH?? Does anyone know of a chart or something? I've tried googling to no avail.

i think it sgoing to be usefull for you
22AWG, 30 turns, 3 layers
core: Ferrite
*0.5 inch diameter
*1.0 lengthe

With a homogeneuos core there are very good formulae. All air you can ue Wheeler's. All ferrite is even easier, you can do it from first principles. With a mixed magnetic circuit of ferrite in the middle + air return, you may or may not find tables for your exact geometry, and you may or may not want to do the voume integration to get there from first principles. The very long air return means the effective permeability will be closer to air, say ur like 2-5 range, so use wheelers with that and it will get you in the ball-park. Resonate the inductor with a known capacitor to get the exact value, then iterate.

Gratitude, I tried your suggestion. With 5V in, I was getting over 2kV out!! Can't say for sure what voltage out was because my multimeter only goes up to 2kV.

I think I'll stick with this inductor for now :D
