I need multiple answers, or at least proof behind your answer.

what works BETTER

A: A normle, coil

B: A normle, coil, WITH steel washers on both sides.

try it. Its easy to slip on washers and take them off.

Id rather a answer. I wont have my capacitors until next week. Shipping from florida to michigan, ordered yesterday night. by mail, not USP :(

Also is it a safe idea to take a camera charge circuit, then desolder 4 transformers, and wire them all together? like in parallel to the origional slots on the board. It works so far but guy on youtube said it might overload the circuits..

This depends on too many variables to give a yes/no. In theory the washers can improve efficiency but in practice you might see a decrease in performance.

Barry has done research on this topic with his Coilgun mkII.

Hope this helps

While adding external Iron can boost efficiency by directing mag field lines towards the projectile, in practice, the Iron washers most ppl use present their own problems by being extremely conductive, thus it acts as a transformer. if you somehow got ahold of iron powder that was insultated (like covered in enamel or some plastic insulation, so the particles cannot conduct with eachother) then the external Iron would work. Otherwise, I dont think it would be worth your time.

Ages ago I read somewhere that you can wrap the coil in video tape for a similar effect. Might be the easiest way... just a thought!

You don't need external iron. Its just one more variable in a system that already has far too many for the average amateur to deal with. I've seen a lot of extremely efficient, powerful, and all around well-built coilguns (both on 4hv and the 'net), and none will have external iron.

And about the charging circuits: yes you can parallel the circuits, but probably not the transformers. It would probably be easier to build a boost converter (search the forums for this one).

it would be even easier to make a mains voltage multiplier, fast charging if portability is not a issue.
