This is awesome! Have a look at and scroll down to page 7. For scale, the inductor in the background has 10cm (4") diameter, so the railgun is only 10 or 20cm long. Down to the acrylic construction, this is totally an amateur construction. I wonder if they have been watching this forum for ideas?

I actually found an article specifically about the railgun: A Bench Top Railgun with Distributed Energy Sources
I am surprised that none of the author names is Jason Roulette because I am pretty sure this thing was build by a couple of students who needed an excuse to play with railguns
