That's a really interesting article.
I think EM linear accelerators are likely to only become practical when new materials technology comes in. In every point of engineering, designers are limited by materials.

I'd say we're in for a "materials revolution". One side effect of nano-technology... Well really everything becomes "materials" then though...
Speaking of which, I just noticed amazon.com sells raw materials now....
