I got 200 cheap K2400E70 SIDACs from eBay (breakover voltage 220-250 V). I just played a little bit with them. I have driven a flyback transformer with one of them. The circuit is the same as for a SGTC except that the SG is replaced by the SIDAC and the prim/sec coil is replaced by the flyback (and the voltage is lower). At first, I got about 5-7 mm spark length. Later, I built the circuit again, and curiously, I only got only 2-3 mm spark length (see the picture).
Of course, driving flybacks is not really the reason why I bought these SIDACs. I want to build a SIDAC / IGBT Spark gap TC with them.

Works better if you use a dimmer switch with a series cap. I got some 3cm sparks from an AC flyback before sparks started jumping across the secondary winding.
