Hi all,
I recently acquired the board in the pictures. While I can make a simple driver for the 2 flybacks, I would like to know the original schematics, and do everything properly.
Does any of you have a clue on what is this, where was it used, or the original schematics for the driveR?

Nothing like that has ever appeared in a TV set!
If you tell us exactly what is written on the diodes, and the same for the capacitors - if they have any markings - I'm sure we'll be able to come up with a better answer for you.

I pulled something very similar looking from an air ionizer once, although it had only a single, much smaller transformer and less multiplier stages.....

Wow, i and VERY envious!
As Proud Mary said, the ratings of the caps and diodes are needed... With that we can tell what the max voltage from each high voltage transformer should be.
Either way, a simple 555 with quasi-resonant single switch output stage is fine, just need to know how many turns are required on the primary for whatever voltage you'd use on the primary. But, the other smaller diodes (or whatever silicon bits those may be) and caps and resistors on the primary side are, so you do not kill those.

That appears to be a voltage multiplier/HV section out of a glassman or spellman HV supply. Judging by the size of that board, it's probably out of a ~300W unit. I recommend emailing pictures to both companies to see if they can identify it; if you ask nicely, they might even give you the schematic for the original PSU it came out of...

Thats some very nice piece of hardware you have there. as already stated, try to contact the manufacturer and ask.. judging by those PCBs, this thing is quite old alright, I have a power supply that uses the same style of construction.
My guess is that it did come from a Hv lab power supply, since I have some old low voltage supply that look alot like this (had an HV one with flybacks, but no multipliers).

Thanks for your replies!
The flybacks already have primary windings: 15 turns, 0.3 - 0.4mm wire
The capacitors are rated 2nF/7.5KV
The diodes are GEA16 EDI8631, but I couldn't find the datasheet
The multiplier itself is a Full Wave multiplier, and the DC output is Negative.
The two flyback primaries are connected in parallel. Probably reversed.
There are 3 Transient voltage suppressors (the black components), type P6KE30C, datasheet here:
I've drawn the schematics (attached), and I'm about to try it with a 555 driver.
There are 20 levels so I expect some nice voltage out of this, but judging by the size of the board, less than what my MArx generator puts out ( )
Since I'm planning to try it with arcs in the air, what protection should I use? Is it enough to add a resistor ? What kind of resistor should I use? Can I build one using a little pipe and some distilled water?

I've used a simple 555 driver commanding a totem pole and an irfp 460 running at 12V (powersupply can give up to 20A). Added a high voltage resistor to limit the output current and protect the multiplier (but I've also run a quick test without). I get 2-3cm max discharges.
It's TOO LITTLE!
I've tested the two flybacks, yes they are in anti phase, and I can get an arc between their hot wires. This arc is hot and juicy and it's like 1cm long.
So after 20stages I was hoping to get more then 2-3cm discharge.
Also tried to adjust the frequency, in the 555 circuit. Didn't help. Any suggestions on what could go wrong?
(I get a moderate corona under the board, but I don't expect this to be a big waste atm)
