Long time, no post
So I've been thinking, could it be possible to use a desktop scanner to pick up x-rays? If you put a piece of thick, black card on top of it and disabled the lamps it might pick up x-rays? You would have to use an x-ray scanner that lacks mirrors though which might be a bit of trouble as there might not be any scanners without mirrors.

The x-ray optics are the obvious problem. You could take an x-ray film photograph an scan it ! How about an X-Y plotter with an x-ray sensor/detector ?

Henning Umland tried this, with some results .
I started a thread some years ago with a similar idea, though with a fluorescent screen instead of the piece of paper. It can be found here . I think it could give excellent results. The key is to shield the scanner probably, and as Plazmatron wrote, this is not easy with LiDE scanners.

Remove the lamp and scan the light from the intensifying screen? A lot of scanners have LED lamps now, and in black and white mode they scan with a green light anyway.
