I have two choices:
I can take 240vac and put it through a voltage doubler using two 1000uf capacitors, and get 700vdc
or
I can take 240vac and put it through a 1:2 transformer, and then rectify/smooth it with two 1000uf capacitors for 700vdc
(I need two 450v capacitors in series so they can withstand the voltage)
Is there any difference in the power factors, or are they the same?

I would expect the transformer method to be slightly better, due to the leakage inductance. Won't be a big difference.
