I have this capacitor, and it has a mounting screw on the buttom, with a plastic nut, that goes around a 3/8" threaded rod.
I tried messuring between the terminals to see if there is any electrical contact between the stud and the terminals of the capacitor, but all ive gotten is false readings with no clear answer,
this capacitor still works and charges up, but I wonder if that stud is connected in any way to the terminals. does anyone have capacitors like this one?

There are insulated through-hole chassis mountings for this type of capacitor, but your way will do just as well if you don't want the negative pole connected directly to a grounded chassis.

Hi Gatedbreakdown and Proud Mary, the mounting stud is floating and the reading is false. if there is no dead short to the negitive the stud is just a mounting stud. I have recieved assemblies with them mounted on aluminuim.

Makes sence, well, either way, I already had made the piece of plexi for isolation, and it fits just fine. but its nice to know in the future about these type of capacitors,
