Has anyone experimented with bismuth resistors to probe magnetic fields. These were made by sucking molten bismuth up thin lime glass tubes (carefully) and attaching 2 leads to each end one pair to inject a current and the other pair leading to a (potentiometer) a voltage bridge calibrated in milivolts for measuring thermocouples.
Bismuth changes resistance in a magnetic field.
It would be fun to test the new supermagnets. This gadget was used on magnetron magnets.
A reverse pipette embouchure was needed to get the Bi up the tube and not have the glass break.

These flat bismuth spirals were used long ago to slip into the clearance space between rotor and stator of electric motors to investigate magnetic fields.
When I made these for myself, there were problems with the wires entering the ends of the tubes in contact with bismuth acting like thermocouples.
