Duct seal in the grey bars is used in electrical work to plug conduits to prevent moisture from getting in. In high voltage work it is used to build rounded and smooth surfaces when heavy lugs are bolted to terminals. That done, the whole assembly is taped up with high voltage tape like irithane. Result no corona air pockets and no sharp edges to eventually poke through the tape. Have used it on 13.8 kV.motors and switchgear. Why is it a dielectric voltage stress installation? Because of the way we layer the tape.
