I made a modification to a Yaesu Radio Hand Microphone to allow for an external mic, I particularly wanted a Ht microphone (my Throat mic)
I also got mentioned on Hackaday:

Very nicely done!
I'm in the midst of a bugger of a project trying to convert a 5 Ohm aviation headset microphone to work with my 600 ohm Yaesu rig. I've been successful twice now, but both designs were rendered useless by RF getting back into the mic from the transmitter. Third time's the charm! Maybe I'll do a write-up and see if Hackaday is interested.
