QEX has an article by WA4GLB on QuickSmith and a site to downoload it  .
Works great so far. Smith charts have been touted as designed to scare anyone away who wants to enter the dark kingdom of RF.
When I ran it i missed a - sign, however with the aid of a magnifying glass (QEX is in black and white). I found it.
If you have gone through the hell of complex arithmetic, better yet with a slide rule, this article will again remind you of that. But if you are a fresh young mind, the new software is fun.
You can even print it out and recode things with signs of the zodiac instead of greek letters. (then others will think it's an astrology chart and leave you alone.
Aside from that, Smith charts can point out good ways to make aerials that should work.
