I'm just wondering if anyone has any good links to a simple DC to DC boost driver schematics. I need it to accept an input voltage of about 2.5-5 volts and output 4-6 volts and handle currents of up to an amp. Truth be told I'm building a driver for a 445nm laser diode and I'd like to be able to run it off a single 3.7v battery.
Thanks
-Tony

National Semiconductor has pretty good app notes for their range of smps controllers. For a simple boost supply reference there is the minty boost. 3v in 5 v out. and I think Sparkfun has some simple boards premade. If you want it to also limit the current you could look at some high power LED drivers
Remember that you should implement a low voltage cutoff (3 volts) for li-po/li-ion batteries so they don't get over discharged and die. li-po will be 4.2 v charged so you might need a SEPIC design if you really want 4-6v out from 3-4.2v in.

I don't know if it is any help, but microchip have a "tips and tricks" document here that explains how to make a uC controlled boost converter.
