I have seen suggetions like copper tubing, litz and insulated copper strap. Where would I get insulated copper strapping? Also, is $4/foot reasonable for 1600 strand/#36gauge litz wire?
Does anyone have extra litz wire close to these dimensions?

Try bundling up several litz wires, i just finished a new induction heater prototype, using the transformer from an old 3.5kW smps, it used litz wire for the primary and secondaries, bundles of several litz wires.

Thank you. I'm looking into this.
Right now I am winding one layer of wire. Is there any reason, if the conductor is flat, that I can't wind more than one layer? In other words, a 1/2" flat conductor, which has the appropriate cross-sectional area to handle the current at 20mil, will be too wide to get 20 turns in one layer. Can I keep going around in more than one like a regular transformer?
