Could i fullwave rectify a MOT with a bridge rectifier of 1N4007's? like just having 4 strings of say 25, as they come in a pack of 100, it would only need to be able to handle like 4Kv tops, and .5-1.5 amps. ?

i guess so if its 60 or 400 Hertz thats pretty slow. the 1n4007's should handle that. i would buy like 200-300 from mouser or digikey so you can experiment, you can buy 300 for 7.80 $. if you are nearly shorting the mot out with no current limiting you will blow strings out often.

The low side of the HV winding is grounded to the anode structure of the magnetron and the winding at that end is not as well insulated from the core.
Your fullwave DC output would have a floating + and - and the core of the MOT would assume a high voltage should the low end arc over.
How about a full wave voltage doubler that need 2 caps and 2 strings of 1N4007s. This circuit could leave the low end of the HV winding grounded at core potential and give you a + gnd - output.

Strings of diodes are not necessarally good. Each one does not start conducting at the same time and until all the diodes turn on no current flows. if one opens, it burns. Strings of diodes I have seen in 100 kV 1 amp Cottrell precip tanks were wired with small value balancing capacitors across each one so the voltage (50 Hz) would be divided at start and also in blocking.

If you had 2 transformers that are the same in voltage and power you could use 4007's to give you a full bridge rect to make it full wave. that grounded low side of the transformer is pesky
