Hello everybody .
Recently I've decide to build a cathode ray and X-ray tube .
I know the theory and basic info's about cathode ray tube (but there are people who really know good in my house)
Can i order neon sign designers to build my 2 tubes ?
for CRT : a 30*1 cm tube with anode and cathode with a Dilute gas in it .
for XRT : " " " " " " a 45 degree anode to reflect Xray in 90 degree from cathode ray with a Dilute gas in it
I'll add my drawings soon .

The neon sign shop is good for glasswork but they not be able to make your electrodes. With that small of a diameter it may turn out to be a Geisler tube.

The early cathode ray tubes had gas but this was dropped in favor of vacuum.

Why don't just buy an X-ray tube from Russia or China? The cost of buying a small low-powered tube - say, less than 50W input - will be much less than commissioning someone else to make a safe, useful tube for you.

Great constructional accuracy is necessary to get a focal spot capable of doing anything useful - X-ray crystallography, or even taking sharp pictures, for example - and you will also need a high vacuum system of some cost and complexity.

I certainly wouldn't discourage anyone who has the resources to provide adequate shielding, good quality dosimetry, and all prudent safeguards, from experimenting with X-rays. I have friends who have made their own tubes, which is great if you want to do it for the sake of having done it, as a personal achievement, but not if your home-made tube is intended to be a stepping stone to further scientific investigation.

Good Luck ! smile

You'd want a parabolic cathode in an x-ray tube, to focus the electrons to a small point on the flat, angled anode.
