He guys. I am making a fullbridge sstc, and i am looking for some decoupling capacitors. I will have pretty low inductance all throughout the circuit, compared to some H bridges i have seen with like 1uf decoupling.

How about 2x suppression capacitors, what kinda of ESL/ESR would they have? I know they work for high pulse current circuits such as induction heating (if you use a ton of them) and sstc DC block caps (like Mr. Burnett's sstc wink ), but i am not sure if they are suitable for this. My only other alternative is films from TV's and monitors, which would probably work fine.

I have done some research, but apparently i do not know what to type, as i am hitting dead end after dead end.

Just a quick answer as to whether or not i can expect these capacitors to help with decoupling or not is all.

Thanks guys! shades

Do you mean X2?

As far as I know they're metallized paper, not the best for high RF currents.

The Epcos B32921 ... B32926 series X2 EMI supressor capacitors are polypropylene types:

Sorry Steve, i am so silly. I meant X2 tongue.

@Teravolt, probably 400-600KHz.

I actually found one of the caps i was thinking about using, has enough info on it to find on digi-key.

Link2

It is metallized polyester film (it says MKT right on the cap). I am not sure how well this would work, i know nothing about polyester capacitors. I did, however find a nice article ( Link2 ) by ASCapacitors stating:

"The capacitance stability is not sufficient for many applications. For such usage, other dielectric types such as polypropylene, polycarbonate or polystyrene are better suited. Coupling, decoupling and bypass applications are ideally suited for polyester. Polyester can also be used for AC applications if corona is avoided."

So, this sort of suggests this type of capacitor is fine for the job, assuming the capacitor rating itself is suitable. I found a datasheet that states this particular capacitor type is tested to 1kvac, and 1.8kvdc.

That is another question. This capacitor is 250vac. How much might it hate me if i used it with around 350 volts dc? If it would not mind the overvoltage i would try this 1uf capacitor for all the decoupling, and i could add more X2 470nf capacitors (which are 275vac MKP type). I do however have a 2uf 1kv large poly film cap, but it is large, and i would rather save for for another project.
