I was looking around goldmine today and saw a new black core was posted in the "New May/June" section. I was wondering if anyone has tryed these, or was willing to seenthe limits on them before they saturate. Seeing most people liked the 5 pack, I figured maybe there's a chance they could be good. Or maybe they won't be. It's a 1.75" outer diameter core, seems useful if it can do Tesla coil duty, or any other CT / GDT use!

let me know what you think! Forgot...

The black core is probably a Magnetics CoolMu core with relative permeability of 90, the green/blue core is probably iron powder of relative permeability 75.
Both would be excellent for a marzilli/zvs/CFPR inverter, the black core saturates at over 1T.
Neither core is ideal for a GDT as the low permeability would result in significant leakage inductance.
For GDT or CT high Mu ferrite is best.
