For those who don't know what it is...Optical trapping, otherwise known as optical tweezers, is when you take a laser beam, and get particles stuck in its focus. Biologists use these tools usually in a vacuum, to examine microscopic particles. They can keep it in one place, move the laser, turn it with 2 lasers, and so on.
seeing how most people use red lasers for trying this, and the fact my 20x red laser died, i used my bluray. The effects are not as visible due to the laser being a bluray, not as bright as a red. In the video posted below, I did it as long as I could, not to damage my laser. At the end i just blew it out, and ended it. Laser I'll do more when i get a red laser.
sorry for no music..issues with vista A ways in the video i do move it around at 1:30 else, its a boring video. Was to how someone I went farther than 5 seconds.

Wow! I never thought to give that a try. Do you need lots of power for it to work? Do the particles at the focus get really hot? Can you see the effect of the trapped particles in the magnified image where the beam hits the wall?

* I would imagen...People say 20X red burners are best, 16x kinda works. My guess is at least 200mW red, mybe 100mw bluray. * I wouldnt THINK they get hot, because there's no smoke coming off it... * I can't really see anything moving..My lens is dirty as is, but if its at the focal it would be the whole entire lens. so i'm going to have to say no.
It's too bad my camera cant see my microscope too good due to the eye-hole size. I have one that can do 1000X so i could possibly bring it into the lens :) Red is the best to use, 200mw, as it shows nice and bright. My bluray is maybe 200mw, and its a lot darker. If your interested you can get a red diode for 7 dollars + shipping, if you remove it your self from a laser sled.
