Hey, today i was bored, i finished my quad MOT bank.. so i decided to gut an ignition coil. and take pictures. so here you go :) The core, is just separate strips of metal like the shunts in a MOT, the primary is around 29-30 turns, its all paper and oil insulation on this one. the secondary just floats in the middle, joined by one wire. to open the ignition coil i unscrewed the screw in the HV out point at the top. and cut around the upper edge of the can with a grinder.

Hehe, i have done this once, after i killed an iggy. You could do something with that wire from the secondary, i believe it is 36 gauge. Good for a small secondary, or a low frequency secondary. My 12kv 60ma NST used the exact same gauge. Hehe, if it was not for the primary and the core, an iggy secondary could totally output MORE than a 12kv 60ma NST, seeing that they are made for what, 20-30kv?
