hi all,
While I was shopping for some Super Cold Spray at my local surplus store, I came upon an unusual item (for them at least) in their robotics/motor area. It is from dunkermotoren, model number BGE9010, apparently almost new, and only $29.95 because it was the only one they had and they knew nothing about it except what the basic description included said. I looked it up and dear god: just to repair this thing it usually runs at least $600, not to mention buy one! The motors themselves are also expensive, but not near as expensive as the high torque servo I originally planned to buy if I buy overseas.
However, before I buy such a motor (which from a Finish robotics company, and the only one that sells to non-industrial that I can find) and paying $167, I hope to test it out by connecting it to my computer via a serial connection (as it supports serial) and test everything out.

It also has 8 Digital Inputs, 8 digi outputs, all opto-isolated as well as two analog inputs.

Anyways, does anyone have any knowledge of such units, or know of a board for such things? All of the companies are the kind where you have to submit a request for information only to find they won't help students out.

-Jimmy

p.s: is anyone familiar with this robotics site overseas: Link2 It is the only place I can even find the PRICE of the friggin motor

I opened this thing up today, and marked down the part numbers of several of the major components, and with the numbers from mouser it is over $120 worth in parts before factoring in the large number of small SMT devices, and the passives - most valuable in it are two types of parts, one of which is very peculiar.

first, there are nine IRFP250s which alone are worth more than I paid for the unit, and easily usable for future projects.

But there are two small blue objects, labeled HY15-P, and valued at $25.51 a piece! - I looked up the datasheet and it seems like a part that has some use for some projects, and I was wondering if anybody has a suggestion on building it into a circuit to try them out. I also noticed that it supports up to 2500V Isolation, and I thought about using something like this with some other components in my Pulse Unit once it is ready, after building a circuit to bring the voltage down in a parallel stream or using an Induction coupling with the output to measure the characteristics

here is the datasheet

I think I'm just going to harvest parts rather than try to use the thing as is, and I could possibly make the enclosure and MOSFETS go to use in a small SSTC as the enclosure would help protect from interference being all metal and is a VERY powerful heatsink.
