I have a Tektronix 2465B oscilloscope and I have the Tektronix P5205 high voltage differential probes connected to it using the 1103 Tektronix power supply. The probes have a 500x and 50x attenuation button. They go into a 1Mohm input on my scope.
When I feed a 15v DC voltage into the probe with the 500x attenuation, I read 15v. My scope is set to 20mv and I read the DC signal at 1.5 divisions. When I switch to the 50x attenuation and set the scope to 0.1v I would expect to see the signal at 3 divisions, but I see it at 1.5 divisions.
I only plan to use these probes to scope signals and the values are not critical, although it would be nice to have the right numbers. Is there something wrong with the probes and they need repair? I have two of them and they both do the same thing, making me think this is somehow an expected behavior at the 50x attenuation.
