I picked up an old SUN 4/110 that my uni was throwing out. On the bottom of the case there is foam (I assume acts as an air filter). Now the foam itself crumbled in my hand when I touched it. Does anyone know what type of material the foam is and should I consider it a hazard? thanks.

It could be made out of anything, just collect as much of it as you can and throw it away. Its not toxic, but you might want to put a fresh filter to keep the dust out of your new antique. Also be happy you didn't get the kind of foam that turns into sticky mush, that stuff can be a major pain in the rear to clean up.
