Hello all.
I have been trying to come up with a way to use 2 811A's to make an induction heater.
I realized that I may be able to just use standard VTTC circuit. My idea is to just build a normal VTTC, and instead of putting a secondary (TC secondary) inside the primary, I would put a few turns of 8gauge wire, and then put a capacitor and work coil in series with this. Obviously, I would tune the two LC's to match.
So, would this have any chance of working, i.e. heating a .25'' thick steel rod red hot. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't.
(Also, for feedback I would just use a grid coil like a normal vttc)

Using two resonant circuits is not too good idea for varying loads/workpieces. It only works pretty good for constant load (like tube welding etc).
There are many different methods and oscillator circuits available for vacuum tube induction heaters.
Work coil can be connected series with tank coil. If more workcoil current is needed, it can be parallel connected with a small part of tank coil (like: 20turn tankcoil is used, workcoil is connected between earth and 2nd-3th turn from groundside of tank coil). Air cored matching transformer is just one possibility but its not so efficient..
