If so, how do you like it?
I'm wondering, what kind of thread is that on the brass inlet fitting where it screws into the pump body? It looks like 1/4" NPT, but I can't be sure just looking at the picture.

in the description it says "1/4" SAE and 1/2" Acme intake fitting with dual ports for R134A and R12/R22 systems" - and as for how it works, I also would like to know because I can get these locally and don't use vacuums very often except for Plastic Casting, so it might prove useful

Hello DaJJHman,
That fitting is actually a "tee" fitting - what I want to know about is the part that screws into the pump body. That's because I want to replace it with an adapter that will allow me to use standard vacuum hardware.
If it is 1/4", NPT then I suppose the inlet fitting could be replaced with a standard pipe nipple (long enough to clear the handle), which could mate with a NW-25 flanged adapter.
Right now I'm trying to decide between the Harbor Freight 3 CFM pump, and a "Viot" 3 CFM pump that's sold on ebay.
The pumps seem quite similar except that the Viot has the added feature of "gas ballast", and it claims a lower ultimate vacuum: 15 vs. 25 mtorr, IIRC.
On the other hand, one important advantage of the Harbor Freight pump is the fact that you can easily return it for a refund, if you don't like it for any reason.
not the same model, but I've loved it so far - I'll try to get the fitting off and check the size, they appear to have the same fitting but I could be wrong
