Hi all, most people dont know but I am a pump it up player. Not a good one, but I play.
So I decided to spend some time making an pad to dance it at home with PumpMania software (its free).
Ok, started with this site at reference (I dont know why, but google refuses to translate: Link2 )
But some people that made based on this site, said that the sensor have much problems, and I resolve to use a little imagination on everthing.

Bought six 90x90cm 6mm MDF to use, for two pads (as some musics need the two)
One is for base, and two is with the step cutting.
Made the drawings and start to cut:

After that, put three together, and see how it looks:

Made one sensor outside to test it how it will work, and that is how I did:
Two aluminium foils at the base, and one at the step, 4 E.V.A. pieces at each side of the step. So when you put your feet on it, the E.V.A. got thicker and the aluminium foils can touch each other.
As the E.V.A. has 1mm, and my step was too low from the top MDF, I need to made a few pieces of EVA and one in the center, where the aluminium foil goes.
Here how it look:
E.V.A. Pieces: Link2
Test Base: Link2
Test Step: Link2
After see that foils doesnt touch each other, I made some changes:
Link2 (I know, doesnt look good)

Ok, worked good, so I started to mount everthing on the base.
After some screws: Link2
Everthing fit in the location, now its time for test, for the computer comunication I bought an cheap PS/2 USB Controller, and opened, removed everthing, only gets the main board. As the original controler have Analog Sticks, I need to made some changes and put a few 2k2 Resistors on the board, to "act" like the analog sticks.

Tested, everthing works fine (not dancing already). Time to make things better mounted.
Built-in Controller at middle of the two mdf's:

Finally (but without paint): Link2
And without the steps: Link2

Ok, everthing works, and I can dance, as other people can (after much adjusts at the E.V.A. Pieces and some other things.), but that is not the better pressure sensor that I can use. From time to time, I need to review much things at the steps to get it work good again, and as the sensor is on the middle, if I press with low pressure at the sides, it doesnt work.
In the original PIU Pad, there are four sensors, each one at the sides, and the middle is empty (not actually empty, there is a cold cathode lamp inside), the sensor is a rubber bar with two wires going out, I dont know how it works.

The pad is working, but I need better ideas for making up the sensor. Someone have a better idea? Thanks!
