I have been looking for ways to collect data for high speed events (railgun) for some time now, and I came back to the standard soundcard method. The problem with this is most only have 1 channel, I need at least 12, or 6 at a minimum. I though of recorders, the standard sound recorders. One would just have a couple of these, start recording during the event, and playback one by one. As you play back, the output can be fed into a PC mic port, one by one to obtain the waveform. I looked around, and found these: These seem perfect due to the bare PCB design, as well as power and speaker connectors. The MIC and record tact switch would just need to be de soldered. Another feature that appealed is the oscillation resistor. If you were to change the resistor, sampling rate can be increased and decreased. The default is 20 seconds at about 7khz. I would probably go 2-5 seconds. I plan on having a rogowski coil, some B-dot probes, and a break wire chronograph.

I was planning on protection. A rogowski coil has its integrator, and B-dot probes will also work with similar integrators. I plan on going all passive integrators.
