Anybody ever try to "corona treat" some plastic?

I see that you can buy small hand-held HV generators intended for small scale corona treatment of "slippery" (e.g., low surface energy) plastics.
I'm wondering, has anyone here ever tried it? I wonder if treatment like that would make it so varnish would bond to polyethylene, for example?
If so I'm thinking that the PE tube could be put in a lathe, and instead of a tool bit, a HV insulated wire with a small exposed tip at a potential of a few kv or so could maybe treat the whole tube?

I think this will work. Why not test it on a couple of small samples?
