Hey guys! haven't been around here for a couple years but I was getting back into coiling as a have to kill time while my bike is getting repaired. Thought I might share a new coil design and get some feedback as I have forgot quite a bit about all this fun HV stuff.
Basically here's what I have:
OBIT: 120v(60Hz) @ 150W --- 6Kv @ 20mA powering a home made plate cap calculated at 0.008 uF (5 plates of 8.5x11 overlap on 2mm glass)
Here's what I plan on acquiring:
3" x 18" secondary wound with 33Ga magnet wire
18 turns (14-15 tap) 1/4"dia x 1/4 spaced flat coil primary
multi gap copper and PVC spark gap cooled with a fan of some sorts
large mannequin head covered in chicken wire and metal duct tape for the toroid
and all the other bits and pieces necessary for lightning creation
Any input is welcome and thanks goes out to Kevin for help with teslamap.
Oh and sorry but this should be in tesla coils not HV.
