Okay, so I slapped together a circuit without any regard for heatsinks on certain components, and realized this at the end. So my question is, are heatsinks necessary if I just submerge the board in oil? Basically, I want to know if oil can substitute proper metal heatsinks.

So I just need to have a place where the oil can contact air or some sort of active cooling system? Would a metal box containing the oil and circuit suffice (with, of course, something to prevent the circuit from coming into contact with the metal)?

Just dunking the circuit might save it if it is borderline overheating, but if the components needed a heatsink dipping them in oil will not solve the problem.
