Hi all.
Seems that this page suggests that a gunnplexer operating at 10.250 GHz could be received using a satellite LNB.
I did determine that it is correctly emitting RF using a spare mobile phone detector (cut down and reshaped antenna) and it detected the gunnplexer from about 2" away.
Any ideas? I need to replace the LNB on our satellite receiver as its vertical polarisation element has gone bad so may have LNB to experiment with.

I could get a line-of sight from Beachy Head, the highest chalk cliff in Britain (162 m/530 ft), and just down the road, to Guernsey. Alignment by theodolite.

PS. I'm almost up & about now, Andre, and will get your lighthouse valves off by the end of the week. The small ceramic ones are good for 15W @ 7G5MHz and the two larger metal and glass ones are good to >2G75MHz. I hope this is what you wanted. I've made a partial translation of the Russian data sheets for you, but will include the originals too. H

btw if you happen to see a scrap Gunnplexer I have a spare working diode.
Re. valves. I gather that the required metalwork for these is essentially a circular waveguide inside a second waveguide. That datasheet would be handy.
Also, do you happen to know what a mixer diode with 1K parallel resistor should measure if it is intact? It seems to be around 1K in "reverse" and 330mV forward drop..
I was looking at converting my Gunnplexer into two separate units for the purposes of long distance comms but the second unit housing the mixer is substantially different from the first. Is it likely to matter where in the waveguide the Gunn is installed or will it not work at all?
