hi guys!
i'm new to this forum, i was thinking about building a new Induction Heater for me , since i've already got the ZVS induction Heater working... i think now is time for something more powerfull...
so i was wondering what schematic will be more apropriated to me...and if is better a halfbridge or full-bridge...

(from our friend Eirik Taylor)

(c4r0's one)
Link2
(danyk's one)

(HVguy's one)
or
any of the other circuits posted in this forum...
I have to say that getting capacitors is hard for me...there is a lack of suppliers at the place I live...

I liked c4r0's one but i have some doubts
-what is the "freq input" on the beginning of the schematic?
-is that 4059 a big IC from phillips? or are a lot of different IC's?
-how many turns of what kind of wire on that inductors?

I liked some new videos posted by danyk on youtube, like this one
Link2
do you know what is the circuit that he's using?

Thank you!

Hi! I'm glad you like my heater :)

1. Freq input is an input for signal that switches the H-bridge. Whole my heater was a quick-and-dirty shitty construction made actually by the way of building SSTC. I used a signal generator (the big black box which you can see on pictures on my website) to provide controlling signal. It's simply a 50% duty cycle square wave signal with freq of about 200kHz (the freq depends on your LC circuit and you need some regulation to tune to resonance).
2. It's 4069, not 4059. It's one IC containing six inverters.
3. Each winding of the GDT (gate driver transformer) was 15 turns of about 0.5mm diameter copper wire. It doesn't actually matter what wire you use. The most important is to choose a proper core.
Matching transformer was in my case 20 turns on primary and 2 turns on sec (as you can see on the schematic). I'm not sure how to determine how many turns it should be :P I just made it this way and it worked. You can also use matching inductor instead of transformer.
Work coil was 5-10 turns of 2.5mm^2 copper wire.

Hi c4r0!
can you post a circuit or a specification of a Signal Generator?

How about this one:
http://www.elisanet.fi/tonskulus/ssih/schema3.jpg

It is self excited so it stays tuned all the time to keep IGBT's cool and safe. It can melt easily any workpieces from aluminium to iron/steelrods:

(Check out my other induction heater videos too!)

Circuit is very simple, MAX4428 is not necessary if using 12V CD40106 schmitt-trigger instead if 5V 74HC14.

Hi Tonskulus, i was always seeing your work trough the internet, i can say that i'm impressed with your work, i'll try the circuit that you posted "schema3" and i need to say thank you very much for that!
I was searching for some detailed/easy circuit like that one.
I just have a few doubts...
that Zmatch inductor... what are the specifications of it?
and that
1:1,5:1,5 can be made using a common ferrite toroidal or a flyback ferrite? what is the number of turns for each side?
I was thinking that probably this IGBT will bem diffcutl to find at the place I live, are there some variations of it that can be used? and what about power mosfets?
The 100...300V are AC or DC?

thank you!

Any fast high power IGBT should be ok. Gate transformer has 10+15+15 turns, small ferrite toroid.

Zmatch inductor can be varied from 10µH up to 50µH..less inductance->more output. Has to be heavy duty made.

Input is ofcourse DC..

Hi!
i belive, i'll not accomplish this circuit =/
these IGBT's are about 180 U$ for me, and i don't have this money to spend on a IH...
what about the possibility of using mosfets like FDH44N50 or IRPF460's with diodes in paralel with drain and source?

thank you!

Hi all!
i've designed a new Schematic, with changes that will be apropriated to me(becuse of what I said on the previous post), but i don't know if everything is correct, and if the values of components are right... can someone say if this new circuit will work? and if there are values that can be optimized?

Th

Does the 9uF capacitors have some specific voltage?
how many turns are needed for each side of the 1:40 transformer?

Thank you!

it might be like 1 turn primary and 40turn secondary..not very critical. You can try 1-2turns primary (tank side).

As I said you can use ANY high power IGBT's there, similar to IRFP460 mosfets. Like those HGTG40N60's or similar..

DC blocking caps..You can use either filtered input and single (few µF) dc blocking capacitor between inverter output and Zmatch coil or symmetrical capacitors as seen on schematic, also few microfarads.
