Master fuse just blew in rental house in Vegas. Tenants are burning up without air conditioner. Is it safe to straight wire the line until a new fuse can be aquired? What can we do to fix this safely???

No.

What can we do to fix this safely???

Find out what's causing the fuse to blow, then replace the fuse with one of the same rating.

If you are the owner, you could try mailing them a crate of ice to keep them appeased until then. Or hire them a generator, some extension leads and some portable AC units. If you are one of the tenants, get the ice and AC, and send the bill to the owner.

You didn't really expect anybody on this board to say "yeah, go on, as long as it's in place for less than 48 hours, there will be no problem". The best that can happen is the substitution gets discovered before you can get it fixed properly, and you get your ass busted for breaking electricty regulations as they apply to the safety of business premises. The worst that can happen is that everybody in the property perishes in the fire caused by whatever fault the fuse was saving you from, and you still get your ass busted, possibly posthumously, for breaking electricty regulations as they apply to the safety of business premises. Your call.

You should call in someone that is qualified to figure out why the fuse blew, either there is an electrical fault somewhere or there are too many people using too much power.

Try to replace the fuse with minimum load so it does not arc and damage the contacts.
