A breaking news story (no pun intended) ...
I spent a day at Maker Faire a few weeks ago, but missed the HBL show which included coin shrinking demo in public!
While we're on the topic... has there been a discussion on the 4hv forum about whether coin-shrinking and can-crushing topics belong under "General" or "EM Projectile accelerators"? The technology is very closely associated with the latter!

p.s. The illumination for high speed video comes from a couple of narrowly focused flashlamps, apparently triggered using a "slave flash" unit connected by light pipe to the switching spark gap.

There is already a thread about this here: Maybe you could have posted the links there?
Sorry 'bout that. Had never before looked in the "general chatting" section here, so of course missed Wirenut's topic. I see it's a popular board and a popular thread, so won't be skipping it any more. (OTOH, I think this category is the right place and that category is the wrong place, according to the official descriptions.)

Looks like sometime in the last 12 hours, I V Labs took down their 100k-fps video and replaced it with regular video of Hackerbot people. Hope they put it back somewhere for public viewing. Don't know if it was ever presented in a form easy to save for personal use .
As of right now, has a series of 5 consecutive frames from the best video shot: one before, two transitional frames, one "all done", then one where the coil begins to break up and arc. Just past the middle of video or they show those 5 frames, followed by a continuous slo-mo of the clear acrylic "dowel section" surrounded by fire & beginning to tumble.
