I found this strange device on ebay.
It says "Dr. Jerome Kidder, Inventor New York" on the tag. It has patent dates from 1864 to 1876 on it. I can't figure out what it was. It had taps that ran to different points to what looked like a wire wound resistor. Anyway, I figured it would be the perfect case for my nixie clock.
I purchased the kit from nuts and volts. It came with every single thing you need except the case. (Although a kit with a simple wooden case is available.)
Here is the almost finished product. I was able to use the two old switches on the left for the hour change and minute change switches. I hand built and stained the case to match the old cover. I still have to fasten everything together but this is baiscally how it will look. I will take better pics later.
I felt kind of bad, like i was destroying a piece of history but I'm happy with how it came out. I highly recommend the kit if anyone is interested.
Oddly enough another member (thedatastream) has just completed a clock too so if you're into nixies be sure to check that out too. Dennis

Nice :) Look forward to seeing some bigger pictures
I almost gutted my late father in law's AVO 7 (1945) to be the chassis for my clock but opening it up and seeing what a beautiful piece of engineering it was inside I couldn't bear to take it to bits!
