Theres a few things to consider here.
* This tesla coil is 1X6 inches.
* The primary is 3 inches, 12 coils, and well, it's coiled upward with like no spacing or anything. Badly made.
* The tesla coil has a bit of loose wire. It was my first coil.
* My camera doesn't hear my BPS very good, and doesn't pick up the correct length on the movie

Also, There's a list of new things to come too.
* New primary, Will consist of flat coil out of copper. I got 50ft of thin copper tubing for 22 dollars.
* New capacitors. MY LEYDEN JARS LEAK! Arcstarter made me some mylar ones for temp. They have more NF that my jars.
Let me tell you, I added a sodacan-pluged jar to this, It went from 1 single 1" streamer, to 2 inch streamer with many 1".
* Different RSG. My motor is decent, But i rather improve it.
* New coil, I got a MUCH better coiled 2X10 inch tesla coil.

--Here, You can see how badly my leyden jars leak!

So yes, New capacitors would help a lot. But so far, I think it's comming out decent, Considering what was shown was 28V into a DC flyback transformer. The transformer has a 400V 470uf and 2 45V 6800uf in series to help it out a little.

-Video (How I wish I had a NST...I started my first on flybacks..555 driven..)

About the shielding, it needs to cover everything. Wire mesh screen stuff works, it will allow heat to be dissipated, and i am sure it is quite cheap for that little amount. Look at a window store, or maybe hardware store. Then solder a wire and connect to mains ground (i would use mains anyway).

Hmm, i hope to have the rsg and capacitor sent out sometime soon, when my mother takes me -.-. BTW once again, these capacitors are polypropylene copolymer.

Made a video for a side view so you can actually see the size of the streamers..

Please do keep in mind that I have leaky capacitors and it's 555 + Flyback driven.

added a beer bottle leyden jar with my crap leydens, and forced this to 77V instead of 38V input. It did improve, but I believe the Yo-Yo is my best topload so far.

Great k'nex project! Can't wait to see your coil operate with the MMC, it is working very nicely with hose leaky caps. Just a suggestion, try and tighten up that primary should add some distance to those sparks (it did in my case).

Post up some videos when you have the coil running the MMC, CDE 942 caps?

Thanks
