hey there.
for a while i have been wanting to build a device like THIS and THIS, the problem is that i can't get my hands on the small negative ion generator from those pages.

is there a simple alternative i can build myself?
maybe i could even use a very weakly driven flyback?

i have been there already but the "mains powered" part seemed like a problem(but could probably be fixed by using 8 AAs) also, where would i get a "12 volt to 8 kilo volt autotransformer"? an ignition coil sounds like a bad(painfull) idea

Try a voltage multiplier powered by a cold cathode tube PSU

Hopefully I'm not bringing this thread too far back from the dead, but there are two auctions on eBay that probably fit your needs:

260394946600

and

170326121628 (although the title refers to 7.5VDC, the description identifies the output as 7.5KVDC).

Edit:

My bad! I didn't check your location (thanks for including it, by the way). The shipping to Denmark would probably be prohibitive. I'll try to take this into account before responding in the future. - Rick

I found these by searching the words: high voltage power supply
