Hi all.
This is an interesting idea first seen on adafruit's site, it uses the phosphorescence from a sheet of glow in the dark sheet mounted on a hard disk platter to generate images and text.
Ideally you'd use a stepper motor or similar to get controllable slow rotation, but there are other methods such as providing three phase sinewaves to the HDD motor. Its interesting to note that the phosphor "quenches" when irradiated with infrared light, it seems that under certain conditions this can be used to reduce blurring of the characters by erasing then rewriting the data.
This only works well at night for this reason. -A
