I made a motored scooter, with a 500watts motor and a 350watts speed controller, it needs 24 volts to run so I just used 2 SLA batteries. Is it okay to stack the SLA batteries side-ways and sit on it. i weight aroung 120-140 pounds.

the battery looks exactly like this and have the same Ah and voltage, but manufactured by a different company

Lol I did something like that I am shure you can sit on your batteries but I would not hit any bumbs because 140LBS becomes like 200 by hitting a pot hole.

if you had gone with a brushless motor design you could pack a similar amount of power into a much smaller package along with lipo batteries to save weight (though less run time, but with sla batteries the scooter might rattle itself apart any way.)

Heh, he raises a valid point, crashing isn't braking.

OTOH, since oyu have the motor and batteries, a electric bicycle isn't too far off, plus you already have a seat, steering, brakes, etc.

I really would not trust that. It looks like something is going to fall off, or the frame will just break. If you plan on actually using it under you, I would put a bit more effort into it.

theres a connector that has 2 wire and it's suppose to go to the brakes handle. i don't know what it does and i haven't tried it out yet. it probably going stop the supply of current once theres continuity.

Hi.. I am also looking into this, using one of those brushless ESC 24V bicycle wheel motors.

Main problem is the batteries. The interesting thing is that the most effective (and lightest) battery is somewhat flammable, so an idea I had is to encase the bare cells (with suitable packing) in Moon Sand (a sort of plastic like sand material for modelling projects) to hold everything together and reduce any hazards due to thermal runaway from cells of questionable history. (koff recycled /koff)

This might work, alternatively use LiFePO4 cells as they are totally safe and easier to charge.
If you are careful some of the older laptop packs contained a battery management chip on a separate small PCB which can be reused as a battery level meter.

Why don't you put the rear guard brake back on? :)
