I've got this 2430 scope that works OK for the most part but has a jitter. The wave form will wiggle around and make it difficult to see what is going on. Also the settings such as horizontal, vertical position, and trigger level will slowly drift away from where they are set. I have a service manual and after investigating the jitter correction circuitry I am fairly confident that isn't the problem. I also checked the power supply and everything looks fine there. It passes all self tests besides the B trigger, I think that is unrelated. Could all this be caused by a bad calibration or is it something more?

I had a similar problem with my 2430A. The CRT was broken, I bought another one off Ebay and replaced the CRT. Then I just started swapping components until it worked. It turned out being the 2 large ICs with heatsinks on the bottom board that were bad.
You might have some luck removing and reinserting them? But I dont think its a calibration problem.

yeah, the infamous "hybrid" ICs. I did find an article that suggested the cause was in fact phosphorous in the epoxy causing corrosion of the bond wires, similar to the failure seen on Fujitsu hard disks.
