Hurray! Finally got my boost converter working

...excpet for it only charging to ~200V.

I followed the schematic on uzzor page, he has however included an variable resistor(bottom right part) that is supposed to control the output voltage.

Does anyone know what resistor i whould use there to make it charge to ~350-400V?

all that pot does is vary the votage that goes into the comparator to tell it when to shut off. The bias voltage is set by the 15k resistors going into pin 2 and that pot varies the voltage that goes to pin 3. when the voltage on pin 3 matches the voltage on pin 2 the comparator shuts off thus turning off the charging circuit. now there are 2 answers to the question, if it STOPS charging at 200v that means you need a lower resistance on the pot. If the boost converter is only putting out 200v, that resistor has nothing to do with it and the problem is elseware.

The most common cause of low voltage out is a mismatch between the inductor and frequency. The best thing to do is to just play with the 555 timing resistors (pots work nice), and the inductor. With 12 volts in, my boost converter goes to almost 700 volts. I use 2 7.5k ohm resistors, and a 100uH inductor (it measures around 75uH though).

Thanks for your replies!

Ill try exchanging my current 22k ohm resistor for a 15k ohm one as rp181.
