Hi all. Seeing as I have an otherwise useless Netgear router, (DG834G v4) It might be possible to replace the blown flash chip and use the internal LEDs and biquad antenna to autopoint the router towards where my laptop sits.
Obviously the main issue is security. Using a narrow field antenna does somewhat reduce the chances of hacking.
I was also looking into intelligently changing the transmit channel for lower interference (if it doesen't already), so if someone starts transmitting on say Ch 6, 7, 10 and 15 it changes to the clearest one.
