hey, since i really could not work on anything better this weekend i decided to make jan's classic audio modulated flyback driver. I built the half bridge version and i must say, the sound quality is excellent. One modification i made, i replaces the 2.2uf capacitor on the audio input with a 1uf capacitor. It seemed to give me slightly better sound quality. It's still in a lash up state right now but here is a picture Link2 and a vdeo Link2 note, the sound is nothing short of terrible in the video but that's because my video camera has a really bad mic.

Looks and sounds nice amazed

I really like the helping hands, what did you do to them? Soak them in saltwater for a few years? XD

Good day sir

it looks really nice. I especially love how you've made the half-bridge. I would suggest you shorten those GDT wires.

Another thing - when I've experimented with that circuit - it turned out (for me that is) that using old AC flyback (no rectifier built in) - the sound quality was much better. With the DC flyback I was experiencing some "holes" at some frequencies, while the AC flyback gave me much more linear response.

Cheers

thanks guys, this was just a quick lashup but i am going to put it in a nice box and use a ac flyback. I will also have to add a little fan because the flyback does get pretty warm after long 1/2 hour runs. The current draw is about 3.5A max at 170v across the bridge.
