Hello, i am about to start a very overkill 555 flyback driver. I will make a half bridge with the only 2 mosfets i have, which are isotop mosfets, 40 amps and 900 volts. They are not incredibly fast, so a hugely overbuilt flyback driver sounds fun.
Well, i will be using variable frequency of course, probably a few different ranges. low freq for ignition coils and higher freq for flybacks.
The problem is gate driving. At such low frequencies, you cannot use a typical high permeability toroidal core, and i would like to have some kind of galvanic isolation.
I have no opto's so i might just use a ucc37322 for one mosfet, and the ucc37321 for the other. This might be alright, so i will just go with it for now.

That should work, just keep in mind you won't get the bipolar gate drive we're all used to. This means you will have to deal with the fact that the FETs will not be "forced" off by the drive signal.

I don't get it, how are you going to isolate the high side?
If you want a full frequency range gate drive, you NEED to use optoisolators.
