have a look at this a bit of wiring and you could be the proud owner (peak voltage) 453.6volt battery capable of 44 amps that is nearly 20kW of power.

Until one of the cells decides to go nuclear on you and you have 20kw of power going into exploding one of the cells amazed

Whatever you do be careful with that beast, it wouldn't be a force to be reckoned with. Not to mention you would take days to charge it

i'm not buying a whole box, i was just commenting on the destruction these things are capable of, it could all fit in a back pack, think walking death machine lol

ps they sell them individually for a good price

Like suicidebombers that dont need to commit suicide? A re-usable terrorist in other words?

well you could say that, an ecological terrorist is not at the top of electronic engineers to-do list atm lol. im thinking more of perhaps an automatic coil gun, i don't know how happy they would be but definitely each one could peak for a couple of seconds at 80 or 90 amps, half the packs in series to give peak voltage of 225v and current of 160-180 amps, though i know with normal efficiencies the speed of projectile would be low

Im on thin ice here, but i have heard that the military did experiment with handheld coil- or railguns. And that they abandoned the project because or an insane recoil.

They are currently developing a railgun to be mounted on a ships deck though. I cant wait to see that amazed

You certainly wouldn't need a battery pack like that to make a rapid fire coilgun. A well-designed boost converter or flyback converter can easily charge anywhere from 100J per second up to 1500J per second (higher is possible, but my calculations show that it would be increasingly difficult to make one that powerful due to cost or difficulty in making the inductors). A converter like this would certainly surpass the performance of a large, bulky, battery pack that is not designed for coilgun-power pulse discharges.

The very clear benefit of using a battery pack like this would be that it would last a lot longer, compared to a battery-powered boost or flyback converter. (And I know someone is going to interject with the comment: Why don't you just use mains?)

I have to agree there. The little flyback charger I just finished is only a 2x2x2" cube, and it'll put out an easy 50J/second with an 18vt cordless drill battery. I haven't even tweaked it yet for max power output.

Well, because a coilgun that can be held or mounted on a gokart is more fun than one that stays bolted to the table :)

--------

Back to the original topic, I suppose you could use such a large battery pack to make a mobile flux wire welder. It would be good for outdoor stuff when you can't run a big extension cord.

Or you could make an awesome electric skateboard.

On a Go-Kart you could use a pulsed alternator.
